Here, where time seems to stand still for a moment, people of all ages gather to reminisce and rediscover the sweet aroma of childhood. Every sip of this tangy lemonade brings back memories of sunny days when you may have once stood behind a little lemonade stand yourself. The seductive sweetness of the citrus fruits, paired with a gentle tingle, offers the perfect way to cool down on hot summer days. A visit here is not only a journey into the past, but also an invitation to indulge in the here and now and enjoy life to the full.

A Mediterranean paradise in Maikammer: discover historical flora on 1,200 square meters!
The Mediterranean garden in Maikammer is not only a place of beauty, but also a botanical paradise that presents the diversity of Mediterranean plants. Thanks to the special climatic advantages of the region, an impressive collection of 150 plant species from various Mediterranean regions was created in May 1999 on an area of 1,200 m².
In addition to the well-known culinary herbs and aromatic plants such as thyme, rosemary, sage, lavender and caper bush, visitors can also admire the majestic trees of the south. These include beautiful cypresses, figs, pistachios and olive trees. But the garden also has surprises in store: exotic plants such as the Moroccan broom, the Lebanese oak and the Portuguese laurel cherry can be found here and blend harmoniously into the overall picture.
The garden itself is carefully divided into two areas: A planting area, which takes into account different site conditions, and a relaxing boules area under shady pine trees. As a special feature, the garden also offers cozy seating areas that invite you to linger. The municipality of Maikammer is the proud owner of this botanical treasure.
For all those who would like to delve deeper into the secrets of the Mediterranean plant world, guided tours of the plant population are offered. These can be booked in advance at the Maikammer tourist office. A special highlight: the garden is accessible at all times so that nature and plant lovers can enjoy the beauty and diversity of the Mediterranean Garden at any time of year.
Further information and booking options can also be found on the official website. And the following link.
A special highlight:
Fennel from the Mediterranean garden, which inspires with its cultural and historical significance. And the best thing? The entire garden is barrier-free and therefore accessible to everyone. Immerse yourself in this botanical treasure trove!
Wondrous discoveries lurk in every corner of the picturesque garden. One such jewel is the shrubby snail clover, which not only enchants with its delicate appearance, but also with its unique flower shape and delicate fragrance. A plant wonder that carries the magic of nature within it and casts a spell over every visitor.
(Medicago arborea) is precisely this snail clover, an impressive plant species from the legume family. Originally native to the Mediterranean region, this shrub fascinates with its characteristic, snail-shaped fruits and bright yellow flowers. A real eye-catcher in any garden and a testament to the diverse beauty of Mediterranean flora.
A little riddle for plant lovers: can you tell from the leaf which tree is hidden here? That's right, it's the evergreen maple from Crete, a jewel of the Aegean. This special maple not only impresses with its constant green splendor, but also with its origin from the picturesque Aegean region. A real eye-catcher for any garden!
The common sand wasp (Ammophila sabulosa) here on the thistle 'Blaukappe' is a fascinating insect from the family of digger wasps here you can also see the diversity of plants attracts a wide variety of insects and also contributes to the biodiversity of these. I have never seen the steel blue cricket hunter (Sphecidae (digger wasps)) before and it shows that there is also a diversity in the region that is enchanting. (By the way, this is the completely black wasp on the thistle.
In addition to a magnificent OleanderThe Etna bramble, which evokes memories of the volcanic landscapes of Sicily, can be found here. Not forgetting the Sicilian zelkove, a tree that carries the history and culture of Sicily in its branches. Then there is the Jerusalem sage, which beguiles the senses with its aromatic scent. Wandering through this variety of plants makes you feel like you're on a little trip around the world, even though you're in the middle of the Palatinate.
The world outside, especially places like the garden market in Maikammer, is just waiting to be discovered. Every step, every encounter is a new story.
