As a photographer, I have the good fortune to capture people and moments that make history - on big and small stages. The visit of Alexander Schweitzer, Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate, to the hidden champion KÜBLER in Ludwigshafen was such an event. It was a meeting of innovation, economic power and political commitment, which I was able to accompany through my lens as a photographer.
As soon as Minister President Schweitzer arrived, it was clear that this was a special appointment. The employees of KÜBLER welcomed him with visible pride and the company founder Thomas Kübler personally guided him through the impressive halls of the innovation leader in the field of energy-efficient hall heating systems. My camera was rolling almost continuously - from the first handshake to the fascinating insights into the research and development laboratory.
What particularly fascinated me as a photographer was the visible enthusiasm on both sides. Thomas Kübler's passion for his innovations could be felt in his every gesture and word. The Minister President was equally impressed, especially when he was able to experience the functionality of the infrared heating systems live. The technology, which has proven its efficiency in over 20,000 projects, is exemplary of the innovative potential of Rhineland-Palatinate.
As a photographer, I focused on capturing the essence of this dialog: the hands-on demonstrations, the concentrated listening, the thoughtful faces when it came to challenges such as the Building Energy Act (GEG). I found the moment when Thomas Kübler explained the problem of an outdated standard that is hindering progress in hall heating technology particularly powerful. This tension between innovation and political framework conditions - that's what I wanted to make tangible with my pictures.
In addition to the formal parts of the visit, there were also the quiet moments that often say the most. The look on the Prime Minister's face as he walked through the modern research and development laboratory. The exchange between him and Thomas Kübler, which was characterized by mutual respect. And, of course, the pride of the employees who contributed to this impressive success story.
For me as a photographer, this appointment was a wonderful challenge. It wasn't just about taking representative pictures, but also about visually capturing the message behind the visit: Rhineland-Palatinate as a state of innovation, hidden champions and future-oriented companies. The Minister President summed it up in one sentence: "It must be worthwhile to innovate, offer jobs and be successful in our markets with new products and services."
At the end of the day, I was left with the feeling that I had not only documented an important economic and political visit, but also visualized the vision of a company that is actively driving the energy transition forward. And that's what makes my work as a photographer so special - using images to tell stories that inspire and resonate.
